The history of The Queens Head

The Queens Head was built in 1792 and was originally known as the Golden Fleece.

The name of the pub changed to the Queens Head in 1837 to commemorate the accession of Queen Victoria to the throne.

In 1877, the then proprietor, Mrs Temple, bought the old building next door and rebuilt it to extend The Queens Head into a hotel – and the ground floor today still has the original leaded windows!

STAY A WHILE

The Queens Head Hotel is host to nine comfortable rooms for a place to rest your head, whether you spend your days exploring the countryside or retreating to the town. We are the perfect respite, no matter if it’s a few days or just for the night, the Queens Head is the place to be.
